General Setup Guide

Set your broadband in motion with this simple 8-step manual.   As long as Primus has activated your account – you should have no trouble following these quick and comprehensive steps to always-on internet freedom.

Getting Started

1. When you receive your broadband start up kit – check to be sure that all the correct equipment is included:

• Modem or Router
• RJ11 Modem Cable
• 2x ADSL Micro Filters or Splitters
• Installation CD

2. Make certain all phone sockets are covered with a micro filter/splitter. You may have to purchase additional filters if you have more than 2 sockets. Try to avoid phone extension cables, as these are known to cause connectivity problems.

3. Insert installation CD into your CD/DVD drive.

The setup application should automatically begin. If this is not the case then you may start the installation manually via one of the following methods:

a.) Go to ‘My Computer’, and double-click on the drive where the CD has been inserted

b.) Go to ‘Start’, then ‘Run’ – in the box type: D:\menu.exe - here we have used the letter ‘D’ as our drive but this may differ on each individual’s PC depending on the number of drives present; therefore you may have an ‘E’ or ‘F’, etc.

4.a) Wired – attach one end of your Ethernet or USB cable to the PC and the other to your broadband modem/router.
b) Wireless – attach cable to micro-filter and other end to wireless router. 

5. Attach the DSL cable into your broadband modem/router and the other end into the splitter.

6. Connect the power supply to the hardware (if it so needs), and then to the power socket.  Turn the hardware on.

7. Set up your internet connection.

USB modem/PCI card: 

Connection details are accessed by double clicking the broadband icon in the system tray (bottom right corner of the screen) which will open a modem setting window and input the following:

Username: username@eprimus.co.uk
Password: Your Primus Broadband password

Router – wired/wireless

Access the router control screens to begin your internet connection via web browser. Refer to hardware instructions.  Upon access input Primus Username and password.

EG.Username: user@eprimus.co.uk
Password: your password

8. Ensure connection settings are in proper order and double click on your browser.  Your Primus Broadband connection should be up and running.
